
Mariposa International (SG) Ltd, is a leading UK and global charity providing bereavement support to anyone affected by baby loss.
It is commonly known by the name of its primary support division ‘Saying Goodbye’, which is one of 6 support divisions providing support to people through pregnancy after loss, infertility, adoption and more.
The organisation primarily supports people that have been affected by the loss of a baby, whether during pregnancy, at birth or in infancy, recently or historically. It provides a comprehensive support network including befrienders and online support, in addition to holding the international ‘Saying Goodbye’ services of remembrance at Cathedrals and notable venues across the US, UK, Ireland and France. each week in excess of 50,000 access support from Mariposa International through online services, befrienders, resources and much more.
The organisation is only able to continue its work because of the support of people like you who generously donate funds to financially support the work, and give their time to fundraise and volunteer.
Making Change Happen
For the past 13-years, Mariposa International has been at the forefront of making real change happen.
In 2013, Mariposa International saw the disparity in care and support and so launched a campaigning arm of the charity.
In 2015, Mariposa International launched the campaign for the introduction of ‘Certificates of Loss’ for all pre-24-week baby loss. This nine year campaign saw the full introduction of official government issued certificates in England in 2024.
In 2017, Mariposa International joined with Baroness Floella Benjamin to introduce a Private Members Bill in the House of Lords for certificates of loss.
In 2016, Mariposa International became a stakeholder with the Department of Health and Social Care to help guide and advise on policy change.
In 2018, Mariposa founder and CEO Zoe Clark-Coates MBE was appointed to co-chair and author the Pregnancy Loss Review for the Secretary of State for health. This 6-year review was laid in Parliament in 2023 with the government accepting all 73 recommendations to overhaul clinical care and support.
In 2024, following the success of the ‘Certificates of Loss’ campaign, the charity rejoined with Baroness Benjamin to introduce the Still Birth (Definition) Bill in the House of Lords, looking to reduce the stillbirth term from 24 to 20 weeks.
